Black Eye
Today in gym we were playing hockey. It was the last day for hockey, and i liked playing. (Personally, i thought i was doing good.) I remember going after the puck, but there were already about five people around it so i moved back, ready to get it if it came toward the goal. Somebody whacked at it, and it came flying through the air toward my face, and... ouch. Everybody stopped playing. I covered my eye with my hand, and the gym teacher came over to look at it. I took my hand away, and he sent me to the nurse immediately. She took one look at it, and gave me ice while she called my mom to pick me up. It didn't really hurt, but she told my mom that it was "swelling up while we speak." I got my uniform out of the gym locker, and julia went up to my locker to get my stuff. Withing 5 minutes I was on my way home. So right now mom is taking my brother to an appointment, and when she comes back at 11:15 I'll probably have to go back to school. The swelling has gone down, but its still a little sore.

Japan Essay
i had to submit an essay last week, along with 3 teacher and non-relative recommendations. it was all so i could apply to go on a student trip to Japan. about 9 people in all submitted theirs (including me.) so far i like my chances.

Lucky Thirteen
Yup, I turned 13 this May. And it doesn't change things that much except I am swimming for the 13-14 group in Skyline & Trident. Skyline, well, Skyline is actually pretty good this year. I can keep up with all the other swimmers and compared to Trident, the practices are nice 'n' short. I already have 2 friends on the team. And I just love being fast. The new team swimsuits look really good, uh, that's all I have to say about being thirteen. I just haven't posted in a while and it's hard to get back in the habit. =(

Updates... Quite a few this Time!!!
I just wanna say: its been a reeeeally long time. So I'll try to remember everything:
1. In science we had to dissect rats. I was partners with Julia, and she was pretty understanding of my complete refusal to touch the yellow, putrid, red-and-blue-spotted, (dead!!!) rat. :P So, Julia did most of the dissecting. Ok, she did ALL of the dissecting. I just sat there trying not to puke. But I didn't lose any points because I did the packet work on the rat. I did learn a few things, but nothing really that important. So now we're finally done, we've BEEN done for several weeks. But occasionally, just when you least expect it, the smell of the rat comes back to haunt you. It happens less and less these days, but when it does, the person's eyes widen with terror, and in a low voice, they say,
"I can smell the rat!".
I will never become a doctor.

Swim Meet
First I just want to get something out of the way: The Five Star Swim Meet.
I did some events, I got some best times, and I did relays. i pretty much spent the whole weekend that way:
1. Wake up early (earlier than I should on the weekend)
2. Go to swim meet
3. Try to find spot on wet, overcrowded bleachers to put my stuff
4. Swim a total of about 5 minutes
5. Spend the rest of that time sitting on the bleachers
6. Go home, watch TV, fall asleep on the couch
7. Go back for relays
8. Go home and do the same thing tomorrow!
Yeah it wasn't that great. And then I had to go and get sick on President's Day. :P

Sick (ugh!)
ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT!!! I'M SICK!!! (Or, at least, I was!)
This morning I couldn't go to school because I didn't think I could make it through the day. I felt dizzy and nauseous if I moved too fast. (I moved as fast as an old woman this morning.) So I didn't go to school. Then I slept for like 3 hours and I woke up feeling fine. Now, I can't believe I missed school. However, I almost threw up this morning.
I'm going to school tomorrow. But it's better than being sick.
I bet Therese is gonna rub it in my face when I get there. :P

NerdBowl- and a possible Sickness?
Today I had NerdBowl- oops I mean QuizBowl- after school. QuizBowl is like, trivia. And it's run mostly by our math teacher. Yippers. S=P
Basically, you have two teams of four, one from each school, and somebody reads the question to them all. Then somebody buzzes in and if they get it right then their team gets a bonus question. Every regular question ("tossup") is 10 points. The bonus questions have 4 parts, and each one is four points.
Today we played Manheim Township. Man, they must be on brain steroids. The first game we lost 60 to 285. Go team. =P
And the possible sickness? Has Monica finally fallen ill? *gasp* =O
I woke up on Monday (Happy Prez Day!!!) and I had a headache. I took some medicine and I was okay, thank you very much!!! So, no, not sick, unless you're counting this weird cough I've had ever since I climbed out of the pool after relays on Saturday. (yes, i didn't post about that one yet sorry!)

Lewis' New Room
YAY!!! Lewis is finally going back to his old room YAY!!!
Explanation: When he was sick, Lewis- um- threw up on his carpet. So he moved his mattress into my room. Lewis was living in my own room, but I had to stay upstairs?! Cmon now!
So anyway, they got a new carpet and now Lewis is back where he belongs. Except all his crap is still in my room. Must be why his room is so clean.
So anyway, it's still gonna be a while before I move back into my room.

Projects- last post I swear!!!
I know it's been a while, but, I also know that nobody cares! Which gives me absolute freedom. The only people who read this are Therese, Julia maybe, and sometimes Mom+Dad. I really don't know why, so don't ask me!!!
I finally turned in the History Day project. Yay.
And Julia was giving away all the clothes and stuff she doesn't fit anymore, and she invited me and Heather over to get in on it. Her room is really messy, and she needed to get rid of it, and it was better than just throwing it away, right?
So now I have "new" clothes to wear. Just as soon as I wash them. ;o)
ok, bye-bye!!!

Updates!!!
Some things I've neglected to mention:
1. I don't have school today, because of Parent-Teacher Conferences. (Yes, my grades are fine, thank you!)
2. I'm wearing my new jeans.
3 I haven't gotten sick yet, but by now my family is better again. :o)
4. I broke my favorite cap AND my favorite goggles. :o(
5. Therese made 2 more blogs, as a force of habit. One is "the best comebacks ever. PERIOD." One is in Latin. She's going to wind up doing a blog for her imaginary friends or something.
6. Therese's brother made his own blog.
7. I haven't touched my knitting needles in months. I wonder where they are by now.
8. It just snowed again. I should go sledding. :o)

When I got to class the teacher told me we were also supposed to do a process paper about our projects. Like, why we did them and the significance of the people we were doing our projects on.
So... I'm supposed to be doing it now, but I spent the entire morning watching Spirited Away, The Office, and The Simpsons. I'm finally going to do that process paper now. At least it's not, like 10:00. Whoo.
Oh yes and, one more thing, Therese and I recorded a little something for the Pokey Show. From what I remember, it sucked. Then again, we were making it up as we went along.
Another thing- I'm approaching 100 posts, and maybe I'll do something special when it comes around. I dunno.

Great. Now I'm surrounded by-
SICK PEOPLE!!!
Let's go back a couple weeks. It didn't happen all at once, but sure enough- Julia got sick, and so did Therese and Cassidy. I haven't gotten sick in like, 2 years. :o) Yeah, I know, I'm weird!
So I was teasing them about being sick with me staying healthy, and Therese was all like, "You will get sick!!!" like she was gonna poison me when I wasn't looking... or something.
Well, I still haven't gotten sick yet, but this morning when I woke up, Mom asked me if I was feeling alright. I was, of course. So then she says that during the night, Dad and Lewis both got sick. They were, like, throwing up. And I know because I heard it with my ears.
(shudder)
And then when I came home today, Mom was sick too. I was a little relieved because I had stayed out longer than I should have at Julia's house, and I forgot to call. But I sent her a text message with Julia's phone. (since mine was at my aunt's house) Anyway, now it's just me left in a house of the sick. I'm fine right now. There is a possible advantage, however, if I get sick: more time to do those nagging projects. :oP
I'll try to hang in there, just like that stupid card with a kitty clinging to a tree branch for his dear life...

My brother just got his Eagle Scout badge. Hey, the Scouts thing may be a little nerdy, and I agree. But I am very happy for Lewis because I know that he's been working for this for a loooong time. At last it's over!!! :o)

MMMM... :o)
MMMM I really want a doughnut right now!!!My Dad said he would get me one if I woke up at 7:00 to go to Farmer's Market with him. I have to go early because swim practice is at 10:30. Anyway, there's no way I could wake up at 7:00 on a Saturday. I would probably just roll back over and keep on snoring.
Another thing- speaking of yummy things I just had toast for dessert!!! Because my stupid brother ate like all of our ice cream, there's like nothing I can have before I go to bed. But this time, I put some toast in the toaster and even though one side was a little black it still looked good. And the reason it was so yummy was I put pear butter on it. Have you ever had pear butter? It's kinda like apple butter. Really good. :o)

Snow Day!!!
Yesterday we had a snow day, and I used it to get my science fair project under way. Sadly, we had to go back to school today and it wasn't a good day because I was so tired of seeing the same faces and hearing the same voices and I had no idea what anyone was saying to me or if they were even bothering to listen and I just want a two-week vacation in Florida so I'm not paler than a ghost.

Projects >:(
I finished that one project I was working on. I struggled night and day against the forces of procrastination. I finally succeeded! YES!!!
Well, anyway, I still have two more huge projects due next week. And why are my cruel and barbaric teachers cramming these all into 1 week?!
Parent-teacher Conferences.
They just want to show the parents the projects that they've already seen a million times because their kid worked on it at home constantly with a panicked sense of urgency. Real good thinking. I'm glad we're at school so they can teach us how to do things more better... along with a lot of other stuff we're not too very exactly good at doing... like CONSISTENCY!!!

Spelling Bee
GOD WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME??!
I totally forgot to post about the Spelling Bee!
It was in the auditorium, which was FREEZING, by the way, and fortunately I got to sit next to Therese and Katia. (Julia was there too, but she sat in the row behind me.)
The Bee started, and the first word given to the first speller, a wee little 6th grader, was "coordinated'. Right away we could see this wasn't going to be easy like last time. My first word was... umm... I don't remember. But anyway, I spelled it right and Katia and Therese spelled their first words right also. The entire second row missed their words, and I am sorry to say that that included Julia. =(
By the second round, like 3/4 of the students were gone. I realized that Therese, Katia, and I were the only seventh graders left. My second round word was tyrannous. I had heard that word before, and I thought I knew how to spell it, but I didn't. The word I spelled was: tyrranous.
You see the difference.
Well, that was it for my chances. Katia missed hers, too, but Therese's word was: crevice. Not quite fair, but we were both thinking of an alternate spelling: crevasse. It turned out to be crevice, and luckily that was what Therese spelled.
After many rounds, the spellers emerged as:
Jack+Maddy, two eighth graders, were going on to the next round. Therese and some little 6th grader named Miguel were their alternates. I joked with Therese about poisoning Jack or Maddy so she could go. She smiled, cuz of course it was funny, but neither Jack or Maddy was sick. I don't think either of them went on to the next round, which is really depressing, because last year I went on like 5 rounds!!!
I am glad that Therese was only an alternate, because then I would have been extremely jealous. >=(

Wow!!! I can't believe it!!! I was looking back at some old blogs and I can't believe how much has changed in my class since I started posting. Well, what are some of the changes, you ask? Let me count the ways...

2. The girls really used to hate Julia, but now they don't.
3. I'm pretty sure Julia and Cassidy are friends again. I mean, from what I saw today, Cassidy doesn't move to another table if Julia is sitting there.
4. Um... It might be just me, but... I think the girls are being nicer to me too. Or it might be just because of Cassidy and Julia, or because they think I'm a suck-up, or because they feel sorry for me. But at least they're not completely exclusive anymore.
OH MY GOD it was soo weird with like all of us eating pizza at the same table!!! The guys were sitting at another table, but it was the one right next to us. (oh, that's right we were in the cafeteria!) It was kinda fun!Especially when "Brat" (excuse me, I won't call her that anymore) put on a dance for us. It was like soooo weird because before today I would have thought she was just being retarded and wanted to dance in front of everyone for attention. But today it wasn't like that. It was funny!!! Especially when all the guys came up and tried to do the same dance. (This one guy, Luke, he was trying to do a split!)
Well, after the pizza it got weird. I stayed in the same corner as before (but with Therese) while Cassidy and Julia spent most of their time with the other girls. Man, I just wish I knew where to sit/stand in the class!!! Everybody changes sides really quickly and I wonder if I'm welcome on that new side with them. ARGH!!!
Anyway, a very interesting day. Oops, got a ton of homework due tomorrow!!!

4. Um... It might be just me, but... I think the girls are being nicer to me too. Or it might be just because of Cassidy and Julia, or because they think I'm a suck-up, or because they feel sorry for me. But at least they're not completely exclusive anymore.
OH MY GOD it was soo weird with like all of us eating pizza at the same table!!! The guys were sitting at another table, but it was the one right next to us. (oh, that's right we were in the cafeteria!) It was kinda fun!Especially when "Brat" (excuse me, I won't call her that anymore) put on a dance for us. It was like soooo weird because before today I would have thought she was just being retarded and wanted to dance in front of everyone for attention. But today it wasn't like that. It was funny!!! Especially when all the guys came up and tried to do the same dance. (This one guy, Luke, he was trying to do a split!)
Well, after the pizza it got weird. I stayed in the same corner as before (but with Therese) while Cassidy and Julia spent most of their time with the other girls. Man, I just wish I knew where to sit/stand in the class!!! Everybody changes sides really quickly and I wonder if I'm welcome on that new side with them. ARGH!!!
Anyway, a very interesting day. Oops, got a ton of homework due tomorrow!!!

The Office
Alright, The Office is really funny. Including that new episode, Prince Family Paper, which I finally watched. (Dwight is so cruel! For once, I'm with Michael on that one.) And I don't care what they were voting on, Hilary Skank is uugly.
Well, as long as I'm talking about The Office, my favorite character is Oscar. (And Jim, I mean, who doesn't like Jim?) Oscar is like the only one who even bothers to make sense.
Michael acts like some little kid who decided to put on a tie and run a business. Embarassing.
Pam is cool, except for that one time in The Surplus. Really scary.

I like Phyllis, she kinda reminds me of your typical grandmother. Trying to solve problems, slightly overweight. =)

*sigh* I really want a facebook, but Mom and Dad barely let me explain anything about it before they said no. They think someone that used to be my friend is going to post something really nasty on Facebook, like, I don't know, if I do something to make them mad. Well, all my friends are nice to me and some of them don't even have facebook. (But most of them do.) Nevertheless, you can't do anything on facebook that you can't do in real life. They think all girls my age are the really nasty kind you read about in the newspaper. Well, my friends aren't like that and I still wan't a facebook. >=(
The Office
Lately Therese has been pressuring me to watch The Office. It's a kind-of funny show, but i'm not really committed to watching it like she is. The last episode I saw was The Duel. (Those last italics were very hard to get right. Curse this computer!!!) Yeah, The Duel was funny, but I still don't really watch it that much. What was I going to say? Swim Meet (I'm at school now)
I'm posting at school today, talking about the swim meet that was this weekend. I had seven events, and got 5 new best times. YAY!!!
My events were:
1. 50 freestyle- BEST TIME!!!
2. 100 breaststroke
3. 50 backstroke- BEST TIME!!!
4. 100 IM (pretty hard actually)- NEW TIME!!!
5. 50 breaststroke- BEST TIME!!!
6. 100 backstroke
7. 100 freestyle- BEST TIME!!!
Woot!!! I don't remember the actual times, I'll get back to you on that.

Updates
Right, so, what's new with me? Well, here's a list:
1. Swim meet tomorrow, everybody wish me luck, I have like ten events.
2. Like 50 songs on my playlist.
3. Tired of Therese, Julia, and now Maddy S. calling me blonde.
4. Therese is hilarious, dawg!
5. I want a MySpace but Mom and Dad wont let me get one.
6. Lots of assignments due in a few weeks, like science fair, etc., and I'm not even started.
7. In the Spelling Bee, with Therese and Katia. (Wait, did I already mention that?)
8. Heather disgraced my phone. ( I will not gross you out with the details, it's an inside joke.)
9. I'm tired.
10. Aaand... I don't really think that Maddy (G.) and I are going to be friends much longer. We used to talk a lot, and I still try to start conversations, but they last about 3 seconds. Except when she's with her stupid popular friends (I will call them the United Evil League of Brats, or maybe UELB), then she talks and laughs a LOT. Oh God, I hate them soo much! They stole my Best Friend!!!
Oh, well.

The Spelling Bee
Oh, Jeez. The Spelling Bee is coming up. And I guarantee that pretty much all of you are thinking, pssh, so what? That thing is lame. Well, i actually made it to district or o last year and the year before. Oh no, even thinking about it makes my stomach tie up in knots. I feel really ill right now. I hope I get better in time for swim practice. Uugh...

Progress
Alright, alright! No knitting progress has been made at all. Just wanted to clear that up.
And, even thought there have been no recent meets that I did not post about, last week at swim practice we were each timed for a 500! Now, a 500 is 20 laps. That's a lot.
Though it wasn't the fastest, I beat both of my friends (who also did the 500) with a not-so -stellar time of 8:18:__. Yeah, I don't remember the milliseconds.
Anyhow, I'm not a very fast swimmer, but I do better over longer distances. In fact, one girl in a different group finished in about 6 minutes.
God I'm slow. =(

New Year
Right! A new Year! And I have a few resolutions, but they will remain my little secret for now, at least on this blog.
Today Mom and Dad dragged us(yeah, i have a brother) out of bed just in time to get to County Park for a walk or run through the trails, courtesy of the Lancaster Road Runners Club. (Walking or running depends on your level of normality. I think these people organized a trail run at noon on New Year's Day just to prove that they can't go 12 hours into 2009 without running/walking.)
So, Dad, Lewis, and I were walking around the various trails, talking sometimes, and it was really cold too. (Mom was running.)
Then we got to this really steep hill. Dad turned to me and said, "Wanna race to the top?"
I told him he was crazy.
So, we started up the hill anyway because Lewis is already halfway up and so are the rest of the walkers.
I went up the really steep hill, using my hands for support because it was covered in mud and dead leaves, making it easy to slip.
Dad started up A ROW OF STEPS right next to the hill.
Well, I was about halfway up when I looked around and nobody's there. I called out, but nobody answered. So I thought, well, I'm not going to reach the top fast enough if I keep going up this hill. I cut across to the steps Dad went up, and it was much easier. Then when I got to the top, all I saw was a low grassy field. No Dad. No Lewis. No rest of the walkers.
I started across the field, because I expected, well, they've made it to the woods on the other side. Halfway across the field, I actually saw people in the woods. They weren't anyone I know, but I could tell they were runners. I crossed the field, but the person I saw was already out of sight. I walked around the forest, still keeping an eye out for Dad or Lewis. Just then I got to the road beyond the woods.
I still couldn't see anybody, but I crossed the road nonetheless, still looking.
When I reached the other side of the road, I could see a little gravel lane with some trees on either side, going up the next hill. As I came closer, I noticed people! Not Dad or Lewis, but Lois and Janey, other walkers we knew.
I ran to catch up with them, and when I did, I explained what had happened, still out of breath.
They said that Dad and Lewis were back at the top of the hill, calling for me. I know I didn't see them, so I guess they didn't see me either.
I asked Lois and Janey if they had their cell phones with them, because I really wanted to call Dad and tell him I was alright. Well, they said they didn't have their phones with them. We decided that we would just head back to the parking lot, which was the start and finish of the race, and see if we could borrow someone else's phone to call them. I liked that plan. I was just so relieved to have found somebody that I knew.
It took about 15 minutes, but we finished the walk and ended up back at the parking lot. I had just borrowed Bill's cell phone, and was punching in Dad's cell phone number, when he appeared at my side.
I was so relieved to see him, but he looked worried still. I looked around for Lewis, but didn't see him anywhere. Dad told me to get in the car, and I did. When he started driving I explained what had happened since we were separated.
Then he explained that Mom and Lewis were still out there looking for me.
Crap.
We drove around, and it wasn't long before we spotted Lewis, making his way back to the parking lot. He jumped in with us and we started looking for Mom because apparently she was still looking for me and Lewis had decided to head back anyway. Great.
We didn't find Mom, so we gave up and went back to the parking lot. And there she was, eating sushi that one of the other runners brought!!! (Usually everybody brings some kind of food to the run.)
So, I explained again what had happened to me, and thanked Lois and Janey for everything, and then I started pigging out on the brownies people brought.

Christmas
Well, the post just before was a mistake, folks. Here's what I actually would have said:

Okay, every year for Christmas my family and I go to Grammy's house, after everyone has opened all their presents at home. We bring along all the presents for the rest of the family and put them under Grammy's tree. We eat the Christmas dinner, (more like a huge lunch that keeps you from being hungry when it's time for dinner) and then move out to the living room and open presents. Yay!!!
